12 December 2025: The Report of the November meeting of the Committee on Hunting Methods is now available!

NAMMCO has released the report from the Committee on Hunting Methods meeting held online on 11 November 2025 and chaired by Ulla S. Wang (Faroe Islands).

Norwegian seal hunter Bjørne Kvernmo presented on the harp seal pack-ice hunt in the West Ice, providing insights into hunting practices, training, and animal welfare considerations. The Committee also continued work following up on the recommendations made by the Marine Mammal Welfare Workshop in March 2025, and the discussions included defining terminology and welfare outcome indicators for marine mammal hunts, aiming to improve clarity and consistency in reporting and to identify best practices for animal welfare.
