The Arctic Circle Assembly is the largest annual international gathering on the Arctic, more than 2000 participants from 50 countries. It happens in Reykjavík in October, at and aroud Harpa. There are both plenary and breakout sessions organised by many different institutions and organisations dealing with the Arctic. You can find the programme here.
NAMMCO organises together with Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) and WWF Arctic Programme a breakout session intitled “Arctic sealing: threat or blue prospect? on Saturday 14 October, 17.30 – 19.00 at the Culture House / Safnahúsið, Hverfisgata 15, 101 Reykjavík, 400 m walk from Harpa.
The session will comprise presentations of three speakers covering the following subjects “Seals significance for the Arctic people”, “Threats to the sustainability of Arctic seals’ stocks”, “Is responsible and sustainable management possible?”. The presentations will be followed by a panel debate.
