3 September 2019: The sei whale page is now published

Did you know that there is a whale species named after a fish? The sei whale got its name from the Norwegian word “sei” (saithe/coalfish) because both the whale and the fish used to appear at the Norwegian coast at the same time.

Have you never heard about this whale, you say? Do not despair, as we are happy to announce the publication of the sei whale species page. Here, you will find general, scientific and management information on this third largest rorqual, as well as its hunting history, other relations to humans, threats and more. This also concludes all the species that are regularly sighted and has been or still are hunted in the NAMMCO area.
