19 January 2026: The 32nd meeting of the NAMMCO Scientific Committee.
This week, we are having a highly important event, the 32nd meeting of the NAMMCO Scientific Committee. In this annual event, researchers from NAMMCO member countries (The Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland and Norway) meet to review and discuss species assessment work done in the previous year and all scientific updates relevant to NAMMCO´s work.
This year’s meeting takes place in the wonderful city of Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands, from the 19th to the 22nd of January. Chaired by Dr Sandra Granquist (Iceland), the meeting will review a broad range of topics, such as environmental issues, marine mammal and fisheries interactions, marine mammal stock levels and trends, management procedures, and more.
In addition to the members of NAMMCO’s Scientific Committee and Secretariat, various observers and invited experts will be joining us from Japan, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Canada.
