19 June 2023: Report of the 30th Council meeting

The report of the 30th meeting of the Council, held 29-30 March, Tromsø, Norway, is now available https://nammco.no/council-reports/.

From new technologies and emerging threats to shifting policy frameworks and evolving public attitudes, the meeting explored the many factors shaping the future of marine mammal conservation in the North Atlantic. Concerned by the status of some of the stocks, the Council adopted principles for incorporating a precautionary approach and reiterated the importance of science and the involvement of users as the basis for sound management advice on marine mammals. A close collaboration with hunters and users of marine mammals as well as the research projects MINTAG and NASS2024 emphasize NAMMCOs commitment to a sustainable management.
