20 December 2021: Report of the Scientific Working Group on Narwhal in East Greenland Is Now Available

The NAMMCO Scientific Committee ad hoc Working Group on Narwhal in East Greenland (NEGWG) met in October 2021 under the chairmanship of Roderick Hobbs (USA). The meeting was attended by members of the Scientific Committee (FO, GL, IS) and invited experts from Denmark, Greenland and Canada (Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.).

The Working Group reviewed and reiterated its previous advice on the hunt of narwhals in East Greenland, in light of new data on stock structure, distribution, abundance, catch statistics and hunters’ knowledge. It also considered the development of a management advice for belugas in East Greenland.
