22 March 2021: NAMMCO 28 Press Release

The North Atlantic Marine Mammal Commission (NAMMCO) will hold its Annual Meeting online from 22–25 March (13:00 – 17:30 CET) to discuss recent research and developments relevant to the conservation and management of whales and seals in the North Atlantic. This will include both the Meeting of the Council and the meetings of the Management Committees, which make management and research recommendations to their members.

The meeting will be attended by representatives from the member governments of the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, observers from Canada, Denmark, Japan and the USA, as well as from Makivik Corporation (Quebec) and Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (Nunavut) and a number of international organisations, including the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas (ASCOBANS).

NAMMCO is an international organisation for regional consultation and cooperation on the conservation, rational management and study of marine mammals in the North Atlantic, dealing with small and large whales as well as seals and walruses.
