31 December 2024: Volume 13 of NAMMCO Scientific Publications – Marine Mammals in the North Atlantic (II)- is now completed

The North Atlantic Marine Mammal Commission (NAMMCO) is proud to present Volume 13 of the NAMMCO Scientific Publications series. Marine Mammals in the North Atlantic (II)  is a collection of papers edited by Maria Garagouni and Naima El bani Altuna.

From a review of the conservation status of minke whales in Norway to studies on narwhal management in East Greenland and the decline of hooded seals in Newfoundland, the volume spans a diverse range of topics. It also includes a comprehensive technical note, “Estimates of Pinniped abundance in the North Atlantic of relevance to NAMMCO”, providing an invaluable reference source for pinniped population sizes across the region, from the 1960s to the present day.

The collection reflects NAMMCO’s commitment to a multidisciplinary approach, integrating ecological, social, and management perspectives to ensure the sustainable use of marine mammals.
