Eli OerlemansIntern Educational Project

Eleonora Oerlemans, who goes by Eli, is NAMMCO’s new intern. She comes from the Netherlands and is studying Wildlife Management at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences. Her academic focus lies in education, with an emphasis on designing, developing, and implementing educational programs and materials that make scientific knowledge accessible and engaging. Through her previous internship’s, Eli gained experience in how knowledge can be effectively communicated and applied in learning contexts.

At NAMMCO, Eli will work as both communicator and educator on the GUARDNA project. She is excited to deepen her understanding of marine mammals and their conservation challenges while developing professional skills in communication and education within an international conservation organisation. This internship offers her the opportunity to combine her passion for education with practical experience in making scientific knowledge impactful.

Eli is also skilled in Adobe software, which she uses to support both academic and creative projects. Outside of het studies, she enjoys writing, drawing, and photography. She also loves to spend time outdoors, whether on reflective walks alone or enjoying picnics with friends. During her stay in Tromsø, she looks forward to encountering and deepening her understanding of Artic wildlife, and to experiencing life in the north from a local perspective.
