20 August 2021: Meet the New Intern

We are happy to welcome our new intern, Martin Binachon, to the NAMMCO Secretariat! Martin is a French student and recent graduate from the Polar Law M.A. at the University of Akureyri. Initially studying political sciences in Bordeaux, Martin decided to focus on the Arctic after spending a year in Reykjavík as an Erasmus student. Throughout his studies, Martin has developed a broad interest in circumpolar issues, with a particular concern for the conservation of the Arctic environment. Convinced that the Arctic is best protected by its inhabitants, Martin finalised his studies by writing a Master’s thesis on the continuing effects of colonisation in Avanersuaq (Northwest Greenland). In his spare time, Martin is a wildlife enthusiast who enjoys hiking, camping and skiing; but also has great interests in photography and music. He will start his internship with a fantastic opportunity for contacts, sharing and dialog, by helping mending the booth of NAMMCO at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Marseille on 3 – 9 September.
