15 April 2020: Meet our new intern
Mana Tugend is a French lawyer with a particular interest in environmental issues and wildlife conservation – a longstanding interest that she furthered when she achieved a LL.M. in Polar Law at the University of Akureyri, Iceland. She finalised her degree by writing a Masters thesis on the rights of indigenous peoples and the establishment of marine protected areas in their traditional territory, focusing on conservation methods as a way to foster the fulfilment of Inuit rights in the Canadian Arctic and Greenland.
During her studies, Mana spent one semester abroad at the Nord Universitet of Bodø, Norway, in order to expand her knowledge of polar issues. While conducting her Masters thesis research, Mana also completed an internship as a Research Assistant for her Masters thesis supervisor, Dr Dorothée Cambou, at the University of Helsinki, Finland.
Mana is an outdoors enthusiast who loves to travel and explore nature through hiking, camping, biking and bird watching. Mana also has a great interest in photography and videography.
NAMMCO welcomes Mana to the Secretariat and looks forward to having her as part of the team.
