Workshop on the Role of Marine Mammals in the Marine Environment

Goals: defining the different roles marine mammals have in the marine environment and how they interact, sometimes competing, with human activities. Exchange information on actions/remedies that are used in the different countries to mitigate negative interactions. Discuss advantages and drawbacks of multispecies management.

• Marine mammals as resources (Food & artefacts, recreation, ecosystem ingeneers, anthropogenic impacts)
• Marine mammals as competitors
• Marine mammals as disease or parasite vectors
• Ecosystem/ multispecies management (adavntages and drawbacks)
