Marine Mammals – a Multifaceted Resource
A designated project was initiated by the 2012 NAMMCO Ministerial Meeting. It discusses and highlights marine mammals as environmentally friendly food resources in the perspective of global food security. Under the auspices of the project a pilot Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study was carried out comparing the sustainability of locally hunted seal meat or imported meat. The report Marine Mammals as a Multifaceted Resource and the results of the LCA pilot study can be found below. The Nordic Council of Ministers co-funded the project.
